Welcome to Meryl Weir Designer Jewellery, where you will find a range of chunky contemporary designer jewellery.
On this site you will find a list of the venues where you can see Meryl's jewellery for yourself and try on pieces that attract your attention. You can also browse past and current examples of Meryl's handcrafted designer jewellery. The gallery shows the style of jewellery Meryl produces, although it is far from representing a comprehensive catalogue of her work.
Meryl started designing and making jewellery for her own use. As a result of the interest shown in her jewellery, she began to design pieces for sale, and her business began to grow. Meryl's skills were developed in her workshop by exploring how metal could be manipulated and used to produce pleasing designs. Latterly she has studied at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham, which is part of the Birmingham City University. Her experience at the School has enabled Meryl to refine her techniques to realise and extend her designs.
Meryl draws inspiration from the natural world. The beautiful shapes created by nature contribute to the smooth, tactile forms that recur in her jewellery. The designs are accentuated through use of different precious metals and the contrast between polished and matt finishes. Most of her designer jewellery is produced using 925 Sterling silver, some accented by 9 carat gold and is fully hallmarked in Birmingham with United Kingdom hallmarks for your guarantee of quality. She also produces a range of 999 Fine silver jewellery using techniques borrowed from the world of textiles. The wide range of colours seen in nature is introduced into her collection by the use of semi-precious gem-stone beads to create bold pieces to decorate the neck or wrist of the wearer.
Meryl's comprehensive range of jewellery appeals to people at all ages and stages of life from personal wear to small pieces of silverware for gifts or for the home.
